Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Quantieme Lunaire
At Watches & Wonders Geneva 2024, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveiled two new additions to its underrated Duometre collection, including the Duometre Chronograph Moon. This latest iteration continues to explore the brand's innovative solution to a common issue in complicated watches, where the same power source disrupts the escapement’s precise timekeeping.In the early 2000s, Jaeger-LeCoultre addressed this by developing the Duometre mechanism, patented in 2007, which separates the power sources for the escapement and complications. It features dual barrels and independent gear trains in one caliber, ensuring that the escapement and complications do not interfere with each other. The first implementation of this mechanism was in a chronograph in 2007, chosen for its demand for high power bursts. Subsequent applications have expanded to include moon phases, travel time, and tourbillon functions, demonstrating the versatility and innovation of the Duometre series.The 42.5mm case with a thickness of 13.05mm is made of steel, crafted with meticulous attention to detail in a complex structure of 34 separate parts. The rounded bezel and convex crystal enhance the elegant profile, while the lugs are screwed rather than integrated, allowing for multiple finishing techniques.
On the flipside is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the hand-wound movement, featuring meticulously sunrayed Geneva stripes that radiate perfectly from the center to the edges of the caliber.
It comes equipped with a convex glass-box crystal that closely follows the contour of the dial, contributing to the watch's distinctive aesthetic. All topped by a convex sapphire crystal. Water-resistance can reach up to 50 meters (165 feet).
Time is exhibited on a deep blue dial, segmented into several areas with different finishes to enhance visual interest and contrast. 
The dial features three sub-dials in an inverted pyramid layout: the sub-dial at 3 o'clock displays the time with applied Arabic numerals for cardinal hours, the sub-dial at 9 o'clock shows the date and moon phase against a blue sky, and the foudroyante at 6 o'clock completes a full revolution every second, allowing observation of intervals down to one-sixth of a second.
The fine, long hands are characteristic of the Duometre series, ensuring precise readability. The lower section of the dial is sunray-brushed, with power reserve indicators highlighted by an opaline arc.

The “Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Quantieme Lunaire” (Ref#: Q604848J) is powered by the in-house hand-wound mechanical movement, caliber 381 with 42 jewels, 414 components and 21,600 vph. This movement is distinctive for its dual-train architecture, separating the power for timekeeping and moon phase complications to ensure constant power delivery. It comes equipped with a single escapement that drives both gear trains. Power reserve can last up to 50 hours when fully wound.
Mounted on the watch is a blue alligator scaled leather strap with tone-on-tone stitchings, secured to the wrist by a double folding clasp in steel.
